Why a Melbourne business should choose a Qld company

Often people are amazed when I tell them that I am now based in Queensland but most of my clients are in Melbourne or Sydney.

I am even now doing work for companies overseas! Which is cool but I wanted to write a post about why you might want to get me (A Queenslander) to design your website even if you are in Melbourne.

Technology

The first thing I wanted to look at quickly was technology. These days we stay in contact with our clients via phone, Skype, live chat on our website more so than face to face regardless of where the client is located. Even if clients are local we are unlikely to spend a lot of time dealing face to face.

While face to face meets are good initially I find once you have met someone, from that point forward if your procedures are good away we can get better results by sticking to our procedures and producing great work efficiently without constant meetings. We can chat quickly on Skype or speak over the phone or via email which is all a matter of minutes. Meetings can be hours, and who is paying for that time?

You are paying for meetings even if they are ‘free’. Any inefficiencies in businesses are passed onto clients and running a lean and mean business that produces great work for great value means we have to work efficiently to utilising technology to communicate is an important part of this.

The the NBN on the way this will very much become and accepted way of doing business as people search for better value and less inefficiencies.

Procedures

Procedures are critical in the web world. When we have a new site, we have procedures and documents for the quot, then a new set of documents for design etc. We won’t start designing a website until our design spec is 100% full. This way the designer knows enough about the business and what the client wants before they start. There is no need to do ’3 options’  generally our goal is to understand the need correctly and get it right the first time.

We are used to dealing with businesses outside our geographical area so our procedures have been refined over more than 5 years of doing so.

Why us?

So I suppose you are thinking, well that’s all ok but if we are ok working remotely why work with Dan instead of someone else. Here are some reasons.

  1. I am passionate about small businesses and we specifically service them. If you don’t believe me check out the 4 free ebooks, more than 15 videos, more than 100 posts on my main small business web design blog.
  2. We operating under a service model and not a sales model. We don’t do ‘sales’. No boozy lunches, just great service.
  3. We actively promote whichever open source solution we think is best for our clients – we don’t push one particular system. We act in the interests of our clients not our own. It’s not withing our client’s interests to be locked into our own ‘world beating’ CMS.
  4. We are honest, generous, transparent and BS free.

But don’t take my word for it, check out what our clients say.

Conclusion

Well whether I have convinced you or not I don’t know but even if you don’t use us to design your website, feel free to check out all of the great free resources on this blog and I hope you get some value out of them.
